Privacy policy
CiteMyPage is a free tool that checks how ready a web page is to be cited by AI answer engines. I built it to work without accounts, cookies, ads or trackers, and I collect as little as I can. This page explains exactly what happens to data when you use the website at citemypage.com and the CiteMyPage Chrome extension.
Who runs CiteMyPage
CiteMyPage is run by me, Golan Buznak, a private individual based in Israel. It is not a company. I am responsible for the data described here. For anything about privacy, email citemypage@gmail.com.
The short version
- No accounts, sign-ups or passwords.
- No cookies, no advertising and no third-party trackers.
- I do not store the pages you scan.
- I keep only anonymous usage counts, with no IP address and no full page address.
- I never sell your data or share it for marketing.
What happens when you scan a page
When you enter a page address, your browser sends it to the CiteMyPage server, which runs on Cloudflare. The server fetches that public page, plus a few public files from the same site (robots.txt, llms.txt, the sitemap and standard files under /.well-known), and passes them back to your browser. The score is worked out in your browser.
I do not save the page or its address. Cloudflare may keep a copy of a fetched public page in its cache for up to two minutes, so a repeat request is faster.
If you paste a page’s source code instead, it is analyzed in your browser and is not sent to me. The report you download is created in your browser and saved only on your device.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand how the tool is used, the website sends a short anonymous event when a page loads, when a scan finishes and when you leave. An event can include:
- the type of event, such as a page view or a finished scan
- your country, which Cloudflare works out from the connection (I do not keep your IP address)
- the site that linked you here, by name only, such as linkedin.com
- for a scan, the domain you scanned (for example example.com, never the full address) and its score band: Strong, Moderate or Weak
- how long your visit lasted and how many scans you ran
I do not record IP addresses, full page addresses, browser details or anything else that identifies you. The events are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, which deletes them automatically after three months. Only I can see them, and only as totals.
Technical data and security
Like every website, CiteMyPage relies on its hosting provider, Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. The CiteMyPage server also uses your IP address to limit how many requests one visitor can make per minute. It is held briefly in memory for that purpose and is not stored. Cloudflare describes its own handling of this data in its privacy policy.
The fonts and images are served from the CiteMyPage site itself, so loading CiteMyPage does not contact Google or any other third party.
The Chrome extension
When you click Analyze, the extension reads the page you have open and may send its address or content to the CiteMyPage server, which fetches and processes it in memory and does not store it. To talk to the server, it keeps a short-lived anonymous key in Chrome’s storage, which expires after 60 minutes and contains no personal information. It does not collect your browsing history and does not use any data for advertising.
Like the website, the extension scores pages with fixed rules. It does not send your pages to any AI service.
How long I keep data
- Pages and addresses you scan: not stored.
- Anonymous usage counts: up to three months.
- Emails you send me: only as long as needed to reply.
Legal basis
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR or Israel’s Privacy Protection Law apply, I rely on my legitimate interest in running, securing and improving a free service. I keep the data anonymous so that it does not identify you.
Your rights
Because I do not keep data that identifies you, there is usually nothing for me to look up, correct or delete. You can still email citemypage@gmail.com with any question or request, and I will reply within 30 days. You can also contact Israel’s Privacy Protection Authority or, in the EU, your local data protection authority.
Where data is processed
Cloudflare runs a global network, so your requests may be handled in data centers outside your country.
Children
CiteMyPage is a professional tool and is not aimed at children.
Changes to this policy
If I change how I handle data, I will update this page and the date at the top.
